As we at CasaManager continually work to improve your user experience, we must also be aware of the laws and regulations regarding how personal information is transmitted. We know that many agencies would like to move to nearly 100% paperless to expedite workflow.
However, to remain in compliance with HIPAA, we must limit the use of email transmission that has any information protected under the law. While it would be efficient for you to be able to email the intake forms for children and families to your volunteer advocates, doing so would violate the HIPAA protections in place because those forms contain clearly identifying information that could be compromised during email transmissions. This is true for any email transmission—not just through CasaManager.
To that end, the child and family intake forms will always need to be printed in hard copy form and provided to your volunteer advocates.
