The most frequently asked question we get on the tech support line is, “how do I turn a red volunteer green?” Volunteers have a code that indicates what their role is in the agency and what they have achieved. Codes are Info, Trainee, AOK and Advocate. A volunteer’s ‘status’ or color indicates how active they are: green for currently active, yellow for inactive, and red for not active for over a year. So when some one asks how they can turn a red volunteer green, from the database’s point of view what they are really saying is, “how can I assign a volunteer who hasn’t been active for over a year to a child?
There are many reasons you may have a RED volunteer in the database that has nothing to do with what is going on in the real world. Maybe you just had your data migrated from an Excel workbook or other software you used before didn’t use dates to determine the volunteer’s status. Maybe your agency never tracked training information or maybe you are a small or one person office just trying to keep your head above water and don’t feel you have time to enter dates.
Sometimes we just need to assign a volunteer to a child regardless of what the circumstances are in the computer! You can do that!
And here is a video that will show you how!
